The Country

Here is our organic kitchen garden. It’s a kind of botanical garden.
It’s fertilized only by the sacred donkeys dung.
We grow our first fruits that Paola converts into delights: vegetables in season have got another taste, of course!

With vegetables we start with asparagus in the early Spring time and we finsh with zucche (pumpkin) and an old local type of red corn for polenta in Autumn time.
All around the garden there is an orchard with various kinds of trees: apple-trees, plums, walnuts, hazels, pomegranates, currants, raspberries, and so on.

We also grow an orchard of apple-Seuka trees (an old apple variety from these Dales) close to the house. We make a good apple juice with them.

Than there are the wild fruits that nature gives us, as: Spring herbs,to cook frittata or risotto; flowers of acacia or elder to cook frittelle or make juice; mushrooms and the awsome chestnuts to roast on the fogolàr (our typical open fireplace of Friuli) and dip them into the honey.

And we are still so glad to do all of this, also after 20 years. For us, certainly, but especially for You.
